    Dream Inspired Poetry

Dreams ARE poetry. They speak the same mother tongue of metaphor and strong visual imagery. One dream work method that assists us to understand our dreams better is to create poetry from a dream.

Poetry comes in all shapes, sizes and styles. Some poetry is formal, fitting specific ryming schemes and or specific rhythmic schemes. There are couplets, sonnets, Hyku and many other styles. And of course, there is the less formal "freeform" poetry which does not have the structural restrictions.

The style of your dream poem will be dictated by the feeling tone in the dream. (in other words, what you feel is right for that dream.)

Often one or two strong images with intense feelings dominate a dream. You can choose to create the poem from those images or feelings. Or you can choose to focus on the "minor" motifs in the dream.

The beauty of creating a poem from a dream is that you can amplify aspects of the dream using another "right brain" form which I believe comes from the same place that the dream came from originally.

In fact, many different poems can originate from the same dream, showing the many facets of that dream like a splendid multi-faceted diamond.

The Dream and the poem will be displayed together on the same page so others can see the connections.
